FSU vs. West Virginia / FSU wins 33-21
Sarah Beth and I traveled to Jacksonville, Florida for the Gator Bowl on New Years Day. Tickets sold out in 2 hours! Bobby Bowden's final game drew a game-record crowd of 84,129 at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. It was an exciting game and the weather was very cold!

Leon County Humane Society Dog Wash Fundraiser

112 pups came for pampering at the final the Leon County Humane Society (LCHS) Dog Wash Fundraiser of the 2009 season on September 12. This popular event raises much needed funds for LCHS's Adoptable Animals' Medical Expense Fund. LCHS is a membership-supported, no-kill animal rescue organization. Here are a few photographs.

I'm very proud of my husband Mike! His first ever photo contest, the Power of Photography show, and he wins two awards; the "New Member Award" and he placed 1st in the "Animal" category. The show is hosted by the Wide Angle Photo Club in Pensacola that we recently joined.

The Power of Photography show is an annual juried photo show open to members and the general public while being a fundraiser for ARC Gateway.

Red, White and Blues Week is not complete unless you see the Blues at least once! We saw the Blues practic twice; once by the Pensacola Beach Ball water tower, and further down the beach towards Ft. Pickens. Special thanks to my friend Pam to join her and to her sister Sharon's for inviting me to her beach condo to view the airshow.

The road for vehicles to get to Ft. Pickens had recently opened after having been closed a few years from hurricane storm damage. We ventured out to the fort and a few trails. Another traveler pointed us to a nest that had three Ospreys in it. Sarah Beth captured a nice photo of the birds.

Facebook is such a great tool for finding people you've lost touch with. Audio Latte! is a local band with Michael Hanselman at the vocals. Michael and my son Drew have known each other since elementary school (1991) and his Mom, Jana and I met through volunteering at their elementary school. We too lost touch, but recently we all reconnected through Facebook. Michael invited Drew and me to his band's show at The RedEye (formerly known as the Coffee Pub) Saturday night. The band was awesome! Michael thanks for dedicating a song to Drew, that was really cool! I can't wait for the next show by these talented young Christian men! What a fun time we had photographing Carson and Elizabeth for late Easter and early 1-year birthday photos. We've been photographing them since they were 3 months old. It has been a joy watching them grow and capturing memories for their family!

Carson's First Haircut by the Barber that Cut his Great, Great Grandfather's Hair

I am very honored to have photographed my friend's grandson, Carson, getting his first haircut by their family barber. But what made this an even more special event was the family's barber Delmar Smith (Smitty as he's known to most) is Florida's oldest licensed and practicing barber. Smitty has cut the hair for 5 generations of Carson's family, including Carson's great, great grandfather! Two local TV stations (WCTV and WTXL video of news story) were there and Carson and Smitty were on the news! Here are some photos I took - Jody

Full moon....or NOT?

Using one of the photos of the Snowy Egret that I took at Wakulla Springs and applying some adjustments in Lightroom and Photoshop resulted in the image below that gives the photo the effect of it being shot at night with a full moon. Scroll down to the next post to see the daylight version.

My dad and I got to take a little vacation this weekend, and we took along two of our dogs. Yesterday we took a boat ride and went fishing and then anchored on an island with this huge sand dune. The dune was so big it was like a small mountain! -- Sarah Beth

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition-Tallahassee-Day 2

Sarah Beth and I volunteered Sunday at the EMHE (Extreme Makeover: Home Edition) site with Another Broken Egg, (ABE) a favorite local café for breakfast and brunch. ABE provided the 6:00 pm dinner and they welcomed us to join them in serving the EMHE volunteers. The ABE family and staff prepared a super meal - and even offered a vegetarian option! Another Broken Egg also provided the 2:00am meal earlier that day. Many of the EMHE volunteers who had been at the 2am meal raved about the delicious omelets ABE had prepared!

We were amazed at how organized EMHE is. It is humbling to see so many people come together to help the Kadzis family. Be sure to visit MyddeltonParker's website (the EMHE builder) for updates.

FSU vs. Hofstra: Games 2 and 3

Saturday was a double header. In game 2 FSU won 21-7, scoring 16 of those runs in the first three innings and keeping Hofstra scoreless until the fourth inning. Game 3 was much closer, but FSU got the win with a score of 3-2.

FSU Women's Basketball vs. UNC

Last Friday night was a great night for FSU Women's basketball. There was record-setting attendance (over 6,000 people, nearly double the previous record), it was Coach Sue's 200th win, and it was the women's 5th time beating a ranked team this season (UNC was ranked #7 at the time). This team is doing really great things this season and it's been really fun to watch them play.

Many of you know that we are a "dog" lovin' family with four dogs. We have supported animal rescue by volunteering for the Leon County Humane Society (LCHS) LCHS.info since 2003. Jody is a former member of the Board of Directors for LCHS and Sarah Beth has fostered puppies and kittens for LCHS. We are honored Pets for the Elderly Foundation contacted us to use the photo below Jody shot of Warren and Sandy with their two beautiful rescued Golden Retrievers. The photo is currently being featured on the foundation's homepage PetsForTheElderly.org and they plan to use it in promotional fundraising materials.

Karen and Shayne's wedding was held Saturday, June 21 at Camp Blanding near Starke, Florida. They are a beautiful couple and were a lot of fun to work with. Here are a few of our favorite photos we captured on their wedding day...

The bridesmaids and groomsmen all wore the pool color while the maid of honor and best man were dressed in coral. The church, very small and quaint, was decorated in these colors and set up beautifully.

The reception was held at the Camp Blanding Conference Center overlooking Kingsley Lake. The wedding party and newlyweds entered the reception from the deck outside.

Unforunately it rained early in the day and throughout the ceremony, preventing us from photographing the couple and their wedding party on the pier at the lake. Thankfully, by the time the reception started the rain let up and Sarah Beth took Karen and Shayne outside on the deck at sunset to snap a few photos. This is one of our favorites from the sunset session.
